Alice Stabiner

Alice Stabiner is the founding principal of Public School 5, a 1500 seat Children’s Aid Society Community School in Upper Washington Heights. PS 5 was a demonstration school for other elementary schools throughout the world that desired to replicate its unique educational philosophy. Representatives from inquiring schools and from funding agencies would visit PS 5 on a regular basis to see and hear about it’s exemplary practices.  Through caring for the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally and physically, PS 5 and its partner Children’s Aid Society were able to ensure that the students and their families were provided a quality education in a welcoming environment, which led to student success.
