Dale Worsley - AUSSIE Literacy Consultant
DALE WORSLEY is a consultant in literacy, curricular
planning, and school design who has worked with many public school districts
and arts organizations, most recently with the Secondary School Redesign team part
of the Education Alliance at Brown
University. Along with
his work as Literacy consultant with AUSSIE, Dale teaches creative writing in
the School of the Arts at Columbia
University.
Among his many accomplishments are EDPRESS awards for educational journalism and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts (fiction/playwriting) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (historical drama). Dale has also presented at several national conferences that include: NCTE (2002-2004), NASSP (2002-2004) and ASCD (2004).
Dale is the author of several dynamic texts. He was the Principal author of the article On the Path to Personalized Teaching, printed in Principal Leadership (2004); author of the resource book Changing Systems to Personalize Learning: Teaching to Each Student, the Education Alliance at Brown University (2003); editor and chapter author of the resource book for educators Teaching for Depth: Where Math Meets the Humanities, Heinemann (2002);and he has produced many articles based on classroom experience for educational magazines (Teachers and Writers Magazine, ELOB"s The Web, Writing Teacher, among others.) Two of these were winners of EDPRESS awards for excellence (1980-present). Dale has also pioneered methods of using writing to promote creativity and critical thinking skills in the science classroom, resulting in a Teachers & Writers Collaborative guidebook for high school teachers, The Art of Science Writing (co-author, 1989), and a chapter in Writing to Learn Mathematics and Science, Teachers College Press (1989).
Dale has a Master of Fine Arts in Writing.
