Greg Hargreaves

Greg Hargreaves is a highly experienced classroom teacher with over 30 years experience teaching senior science and mathematics. He also has experience as an administrator and a history of active involvement in support programs for both students and staff. In particular he has been involved in mentoring beginning teachers. In 2003 he was involved in establishing a pilot support group of teachers at Moreton Institute of TAFE in Queensland. This group met regularly with the teachers take turns in leading a discussion of their choice on a variety of issues that affect teaching and learning. They also regularly visited each other’s classrooms and provided feedback to each other as well as seeking relevant professional development opportunities for all staff at the Institute. The group spoke at a number of conferences and developed a series of classroom checklists and teacher performance rubrics.

In 1996 Mr. Hargreaves was invited to speak at the 14th International Conference of Chemical Education in Brisbane. He presented a symposium entitled “Techniques for the Development and Assessment of Scientific Processes in Chemistry”. He was also invited to speak at the National TAFE Science Conference in 1995 on teaching science in a vocational setting and has also spoken at state conferences on Scientific Processes in the classroom. He is a published author of three Chemistry textbooks and has been a member of the Queensland State Chemistry Review Panel and the Chemistry Syllabus sub-committee of the Science Advisory Council for over 10 years.

Mr. Hargreaves has developed and delivered training programs for staff of the a number of organizations covering areas such as team building, communication skills, facilitation, leadership, time management and conflict resolution.
