Linda Dumbleton

Linda Dumbleton is an established Literacy Consultant with extensive experience as a teacher at all levels of elementary and middle schooling.  She has also been a School Principal (Elementary) for over 10 years in Australia, during which time she successfully led and managed schools during their transition to local school management (Empowerment schools).  Her comprehensive knowledge of Quality Review processes and her practical experience in the implementation of whole school strategies to improve student achievement is highly regarded.

She has contributed to State and National committees focusing on school self evaluation, curriculum development, improving teacher methodologies and the collection and analysis of literacy data to identify and address opportunities for improvement.

Linda has a successful record in New York City schools in delivering capacity building professional development, curriculum and assessment planning, and the effective organization of resources.  She works productively with all members of the school community to enhance whole school improvement.

As a result of extensive school based trials, feedback and modifications, Linda has also written “Can Cards Writing – Text Types”. This book - co-authored with her husband Mike - focuses on literacy, goal setting with explicit criteria and practical strategies to facilitate student self assessment.
