AUSSIE

MARYANNE PEARCE has worked extensively in the literacy content area for over twenty five years. Her experience includes Australian public schools, both at middle school and high school levels, and in the tertiary sector – designing and teaching bridging courses for “at risk” students. A significant part of her recent Australian experience included designing and leading learning programs for “at risk” students.

Ms Pearce has worked in New York schools since 2004 - as a literacy consultant in Queens and the Bronx, and a LIS support and Lead Coach for Region One.

Her expertise includes: cross curricula literacy learning, the effective use of information technologies in the classroom, quality curriculum development, backward design planning, quality reading and writing assessments, mentoring new teachers, promoting and developing teachers’ critical reflection of their practice and linking student achievement to teacher reflection.
