Oliver Seligman
Oliver Seligman is an experienced mathematics consultant. For the past five years, he has worked for AUSSIE Prior to his selection as a consultant; he was a staff developer for the Chancellor’s District and in School District 2 in Manhattan. He works well with administrators, teachers, students and parents. His specialty is Everyday Math. He is knowledgeable in all aspects of the program including the latest edition. He is able to adapt the Everyday Math program to meet the needs of all students including ELL and special needs students. In schools, he does demonstration lessons, works with teachers to better plan lessons, develops math centers with teachers, and provides support through grade and individual conferences. Additionally, he is familiar with best practices, TERC, and NCTM and state math standards. He has developed assessments that drive instruction and in turn inform teachers of their students’ knowledge. Most recently he has focused on differentiation.
Mr. Seligman has programmed schools to facilitate staff development through the use of common preparation periods. He believes that better planning leads to better lessons. In addition, he has worked with LIS’s and presented workshops to principals, mathematics coaches, teachers and parent groups.
