AUSSIE

RHYS DAUNIC has been promoting media literacy through multimedia production since 1999. He has developed and implemented youth productions in various learning environments around the country, and has archived the resulting resources on his website The Media Spot (TMS), which he co-founded in 2001. In addition to his work in schools through TMS, Rhys has contracted with Teaching Matters, Inc. from 2004 to 2006, and currently contracts with AUSSIE as an educational consultant helping educators integrate 21st Century tools of communication into public school curricula throughout New York City.

Rhys developed his approach to media literacy education through his experience in the field and research while earning a Masters degree in Media Studies from The New School University. He is an inaugural member of the editorial board of the Journal of Media Literacy Education, and in 2009 was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association for Media Literacy Education.  Rhys also produces videos and designs websites for Dtek Digital Media.
