AUSSIE

School leadership is the key to bringing about change and reform aimed at improving teacher pedagogy and educational outcomes. Research shows that leadership is second only to teaching in its influence on student achievement and there are no documented cases of schools improving student results without the support of a competent leader. This support is evidenced in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, the development of exemplary instructional practices and the implementation of consistent and effective organizational structures.

The AUSSIE Leadership for Learning series will enable school leaders to refine and expand understandings surrounding the development of a school culture and philosophy of leadership that is embedded in an organizational structure focused directly on student and teacher learning and achievement.

AUSSIE consultants can support school leadership by:

• helping administrators consider how a leadership framework may be used to drive whole school change
• facilitating reflection on the role of instructional leadership in effecting student achievement
